The Jefferson County Horse Council Community Calendar and Classifieds (a.k.a., JCHC Forum) is now available! [Note: opens in a new browser window.]

The Community Calendar is for the general public to view (but not post) upcoming equine-related activities sorted by month. Registered JCHC business/organization members can post information on special events, meetings, clinics, fund raisers, sales, new product releases, and many other exciting horse-happenings in our area. For information on how to join JCHC and register to post on this site, please see Community Calendar directions below.

The Classifieds (scroll below Calendar) is a free service sponsored by JCHC that is available for the general public to post and view equine-related needs and wants on items such as horses for sale, equine tack/supplies, hay, trailers, help wanted, and equine properties/boarding. For information on how to view or post on this site, please see Classifieds directions and disclaimers below.


How to View the JCHC Forum

The JCHC Forum opens in a new browser window for user viewing convenience. To return to the JCHC web site, simply toggle back to your open JCHC browser window, or simply close the JCHC forum browser window.

When you click on JCHC Forum, if a new browser window does not appear, then you need to turn off your Internet Explorer's (IE) Pop-up Blocker. To turn off your IE Pop-up Blocker click “Tools” in the top menu. Then select “Pop-up Blocker” from the drop down menu, and click “Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.” Now try the JCHC Forum link again.

Viewing Community Calendar Events: Under the Community Calendar - Upcoming Equine Related Activities heading, click on a specific month; for example January 2008. Within the month there will be posts for specific events happening in that month. Click on the event subject line of your interest; for example Denver National Western Stock Show & Rodeo Jan 12-27. Now you can view the details of this event.

Viewing Classifieds (scroll below Calendar): Under the Classifieds headings, click the section of your interest; for example Volunteer Opportunities under Classifieds: Equine-Related Help Wanted. Within this topic will be posts related to volunteer opportunities. Click on the one of your interest; for example JCHC Intermountain Branch Poker Ride Sept 15th. Now you can view the details of this volunteer opportunity.

General JCHC Forum Information

  • Replies are not allowed in the Community Calendar.
  • Images, Email, and Web site links can be included in postings.
  • All Classified postings will expire and be removed after 30 days.
  • Community Calendar events/postings will expire and be removed after the end of the current month. For example, January 2008 will be removed in February 2008.
  • JCHC will delete any non-equine related postings.
  • Postings are organized by the date they are created (the newest postings are listed first).
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Login, Registration, How to Post, etc. are available at: JCHC Forum FAQs or by clicking the small FAQ link at the top of any JCHC Forum Page.

Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is for the public to see what events are happening in the Jefferson County Community. JCHC strives to list community events for the upcoming year.

How to Post on the Community Calendar

As a business or organization member of JCHC, you can post your community event in the Calendar. Each month of the year is listed as a heading. For example, to post an event for January, click on the January heading and then click the Jefferson County Horse Council Forum New Topic Button button. Enter your details, preview for any errors, and then click submit. You may edit or update your posting at any time.

Equine-Related Businesses and Organizations Sign Up Today!

You must be a business or organization member of JCHC, and a registered user of the JCHC Forum to post community events in the calendar. Follow these steps:

  1. Already a business or organization member of JCHC? Skip to #2.
    Otherwise, to become a business or organization member of JCHC, click here for the JCHC membership application (PDF) or contact us.


  2. Register (link at the top of the page) as a user in the JCHC Forum. (How to Register Instructions available: click here.)

How to Register Instructions

Registration

In order to log into the board as a user, you must register a username. To do this, click the small Register link at the top of any page.

You will be taken to the Registration Agreement Terms, which you must agree to in order to register.

You will then be taken to the registration information form. Fill out each of the required fields, and any of the optional fields you like.

When you register, you must specify an email address. All email from the board to you will be sent to that address. If the board is set to User Activation, you must check your email and click the activation link there before you may log in.

Logging In

In order to post using your username and use your custom settings on the board, you must log in. To log in, you must use the small login form at the bottom of the Forum Index page.

Alternatively you may click the small Login link at the top of any page to be taken to the Login Page.

Enter your user name and password, and click Login. You will be taken to the page you were previously using, but will now be able to post with your username, change your profile, check private messages, etc. To log out of the board, click the small Logout [<your username>] link at the top of any page.

If you are not logged in and attempt to do anything that requires a login, you will be taken to the login screen. After you log in, you will be taken to the page you were attempting to go to before logging in. Things that require login include changing your profile, checking your private messages, posting to forums (if they require it), etc.

If you forget your password, go to the Login Page. Click I forgot my password.

Jefferson County Horse Council Forum Forgotten Password

You will be taken to a form to enter your username and email address. A new password will be created, and sent in an email to you. When you receive the email, you need to click the new password activation link. The new password activation link exists so that if someone else enters your information into the Forgotten Password form, your current password will remain intact. After you have activated your new password, you may log in with it. You may change your password to what you like in your profile.

How to Post Instructions

Posting

There are two primary ways to create a post. In the View Forum and View Topic pages, you may click New Topic . This will take you to the posting form, and, when you have posted, will create a new topic with your post as the first one in the topic. In the View Topic page, you may also click Reply. This will take you to the posting form, and, when you have posted, it will add your post to the topic you replied to.

Posting Form

When you post a new topic or post a reply, you are taken to the posting form, where to enter your post.

Subject - The subject of your post. If this is a new post, the subject is required, and it will be the name of the topic. If the post is replying to another post, the subject is not required, but may be added, and will be shown at the top of the post.

Message Body - The Message body is a large text area where the body of your post is input. Plain text is the only thing allowed in this text area, but special formatting, links, smilies (emoticons), images, etc. may be added through the use of Smilies, BBCode and/or HTML (if they are enabled).

Smilies - Smilies (also called emoticons) can be added to posts. You may only use smilies in your post if they are enabled on the board you are using. To see if smilies are enabled, look in the lower left corner of the posting form, you should see "Smilies are ON / OFF ". If smilies are enabled and you would like to disable them in your post, check the box next to Disable Smilies in this Post.

BBCode (for techie gurus) - BBCode allows you to add special formatting to your posts. You may only use BBCode in your post if it is enabled on the board you are using. To see if BBCode is enabled, look in the lower left corner of the posting form, you should see "BBCode is ON / OFF ". If BBCode is enabled and you would like to disable it in your post, check the box next to Disable BBCode in this Post. Note: For non-techie gurus, turning the BBCode On or Off will not adversely affect your posting experience.

HTML (for techie gurus) - You may use HTML to format your posts. You may only use HTML in your post if it is enabled on the board you are using. To see if HTML is enabled, look in the lower left corner of the posting form, you should see "HTML is ON / OFF ". If HTML is enabled and you would like to disable it in your post, check the box next to Disable HTML in this Post. Note: For non-techie gurus, turning the HTML On or Off will not adversely affect your posting experience.

Jefferson County Horse Council Forum Posting Options

Signature - You may add a signature to your post. To do this, check the box next to Attach Signature. You may change your signature by editing your profile.

Reply Notification - When you post, you may be interested in knowing when that topic is replied to. If so, you may check Notify me when a reply is posted.

Editing Posts

Editing posts allows you to go back and fix errors, remove incorrect information, or add new information to your posts. To edit a post, look at the top right corner of your post and click Edit. You will be taken to the posting form to edit your post, and then click Submit to enter it into the database. If you edit a post after it has been replied to, a small message will appear at the bottom of it indicating how many times it has been edited, and when and by whom the last edit occurred.

To delete a post, click Edit and check Delete this Post. Click Submit to finish deleting the post. You may not delete a post if it has been replied to (i.e. it is not the last post in the topic).
