Regional Cavalry Competition, Sponsored by the US Cavalry Association

  • Fort Martin Scott Texas Historic Site 1606 E Main St. Fredericksburg, TX 76824 (map)

Competitions of old-time mounted cavalry skills are rare occurrences these days, and worth noting when they do occur. Many of the competitors are mounted color guards from active military forts or different National Guard units. This regional event includes the following competitions: Military Horsemanship, Combat Horsemanship, Jumping, Mounted Pistol, Mounted Saber, and for those accumulating adequate points in the foregoing competitions, the Championship Competition on Friday afternoon. There will be a Pass in Review (mounted parade) Friday afternoon 3 - 4 PM and unit demonstrations on Saturday morning. Spectating is free, but registration is required for competition as well as membership in the US Cavalry Association. Reduced rate Cav Association special memberships are available for this competition. More information as well as registration and lodging details available at: uscavalryassociation.org.
